What you can expect on a Bitches ‘n Barrels surf trip
Though each Bitches ‘n Barrels trip offers its own unique experience, there are a few key elements that remain consistent across all of our surf adventures. Whether you’re joining us for a classic surf weekend, an intermediate longboarding weekend, a five-day surf camp, or the reunion weekend, you can always expect:
Deluxe Camping at Surf Grove
Located on Cox Bay, Surf Grove offers a pretty swanky camping experience. In addition to being walking distance from Tofino’s most consistent surf break, Surf Grove offers large sites, hot showers, laundry services, on-site power and water, semi-reliable wifi, a co-working space, and a well-stocked General Store. Each participant will share a site with 2-3 other participants. Its dreamy and we love it here.
Tailored and Inclusive Surf Coaching
Our trips include coaching through Surf Sister or Lydia Ricard. Coaching sessions are tailored to your skill level. Our group lessons are set up to ensure there are enough coaches and individualized feedback to ensure you get the best instructions for wherever you are at on your surf journey.
Supportive Trip Leads
We have an incredible team of Trip Leads. Each lead participates in surf coaching, forecast reading training, and safety training to ensure you’re in good hands. While trip leads may offer tips and guidance in the water, their primary role is to lead and support you throughout the weekend, not to provide formal surf coaching. Whether you’re just starting out or you’re working on more advanced techniques, our trip leads have all faced the ups and downs of surf progression and understand the challenges you’re facing.
Delicious and Nutritious Dinners
We love cooking and we love sharing meals with friends. Each dinner will be cooked on site. Our meals are delicious and can be made to accommodate vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free, and dairy-free diets. We can typically accommodate most allergies. Quality In-water Photos
There’s something really special about in-water surf photos. Whether you’re catching a wave or simply sitting on your surfboard staring out majestically at the sea, our crew of talented surf photographers will make sure you take home a couple of quality photos to show your friends and family what a badass you are.
Sustainable Merch
Each year we connect with new local designers to put together fun BnBs merch for our participants. Being conscious of the environmental impact of fast fashion, we source sustainable apparel (factory off-cuts, organic cotton) with responsible and transparent manufacturing to ensure participants not only look great, but also feel good about the clothes they’re wearing when sporting BnBs swag.
Camraderie and Connection
We believe the best way to learn to surf is alongside a crew of supportive, like-minded individuals. The main purpose of BnBs is to build community, and our trips are designed to have you leaving with new surf skills and new friends to connect with and share waves with in the future.

What you should not expect:
Consistent weather and waves.
We run our trips during the summer months to capitalize on in warmer days and calmer seas. But Tofino is a rainforest, so it’s best to be prepared for rain, wind, and variable surf conditions. We are at the mercy of Mother Nature, so it’s best to always back your rain jacket and tarp.
